Mallika dress at “Dasavatharam” function lands in trouble

First Khushboo, then Shriya Saran’s short dress hue and cry at a Sivaji function, now it is turn to bombshell Mallika Sherawat to face attacks from the so-called guardians of Tamil culture over improper attire at a film function.

Secretary of the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), S R Kaniraj has filed a compliant at the Periampet police station, claiming that the actress wore a transparent, skimpy and revealing dress at the Dasavatharam audio launch function, which held at Nehru stadium in the presence of Jackie Chan and Tamil Nadu CM.

In his compliant he said, by wearing a mini skirt and exposing her back, she had caused ‘mental agony to the people of Tamil Nadu.

Also, by sitting cross legged on the dais where the Chief Minister was also seated, she had behaved disrespectfully and exposed herself indecently.

Shriya Saran had swiftly tendered apology for wearing short dress at celebrations of the film Sivaji: The Boss, and claimed that she had come straight from a film shoot.

In Nov 2007, the same political party had raised cry over a photograph of actress Khushboo caught seated with her slippers in front of an idol of Hindu deities at a film ‘muhurat.’

The Tamilnadu assembly spent considerable time last time about the controversy over Tamil actress Shriya and Namitha’s short outfits in public functions.

Estimated to cost a whopping Rs 120 crore, Walt Disney Productions will produce Kamal Haasan’s new directorial venture “Marma Yogi” (Mystic). Kamal will play the lead role in this film. The film, which is set to become the first Indian feature film produced by Walt Disney Productions , according to information.

The new film will be produced by Walt Disney Productions in collaboration with Bharat Bala who was instrumental in bringing out A.R. Rahman’s patriotic music audio “Vande Mataram”.

Walt Disney wants to expand its operations in the country, it has chosen “Marma Yogi” which will be Kamal Haasan’s fourth directorial venture. It is said to be a period drama, set in the 7 th century. Walt Disney Productions has been showing keen interest in Indian movies, it has also decided to produce Yash Raj’s full- length animated feature named “Roadside Romeo” that has Saif Ali Khan in the lead.

“Marma Yogi” was the title of one of MGR’s super-hit films released in 1951, is the first Tamil film to get an “A”certificate. Kamal’s “Sathi Leelavathi” was also the title of an MGR film which was released in 1936.

“Marma Yogi” will be shot in Thailand and the shooting may start next month after Kamal’s visit to US to finalise the deal with Walt Disney Productions.

Kamal Haasan, summoned to the Madras High Court in connection with a dispute over the story line of his under-production film ‘Dasavatharam,’ gave his version to the First Bench on Thursday.

During the over 15-minute in-camera proceedings, the actor replied to queries raised by the Bench, comprising Chief Justice A.P. Shah and Justice P. Jyothimani.

Mr. Senthilkumar claimed he had authored the story and gave it to the actor’s office on an assurance that he would be included in the venture as an assistant director. Though the film was based on his story, he was left out of the venture.

Mallika Sherawat appearing in Dasavatharam is old news. But her role seems to be very interesting. Reliable source revealed that the sultry actress has donned on the role of a CIA agent.

The cast and crew of Kamal Haasan's Dasavatharam are busy shooting for the movie at a church in Royapuram, Chennai for the past few days.

Featuring Kamal Haasan in ten different roles, the sequence at Royapuram church witnessed Kamal Haasan donning the makeup of a Japanese warrior fighting few baddies. Mallika Sherawat, who plays a CIA Agent was also present during the shooting.

Interestingly none in the crew could identify Kamal Haasan on the first day of the shooting. Director Ravikumar and cinematographer Ravi Verma were giving instruction to the crew.

The shooting for the movie is expected to be completed by June and the movie might hit the screens this August.

Mallika Sherawat has been signed to play in Dasavadharam starring Kamal Hassan. The film will have Kamal Hassan playing 10 different roles. The film also stars popular south Indian actress Asin. However, Mallika is being paid twice the amount Asin would get for this film. Producer Oscar Ravichandran justifies it saying Mallika deserves it. Mallika will be seen playing a grey character in the film, who masterminds conspiracies leading to conflicts.

It is revealed that the approximate budget of the film is 30 crores. In fact the opening scene of the film which runs for 3 minutes will itself cost Rs. 2 crore. Interestingly, Himesh Reshammiya is doing the music of Dasavadharam. The film will also be released in 6 Indian languages.

Dasavatharam is the forthcoming Kamal Haasan's movie.

Kamal Hassan don't do different things. He always do things in a different way. His forthcoming magnum opus, Dasavatharam, which is directed by K. S. Ravikumar.

The movie features Kamal in ten different roles and Asin in two roles, apart from Mallika Sherawat and Jayaprada in the lead roles with Napolean, M. S. Baskar, Santhana Bharathi and Ravikumar himself in other pivotal roles. The movie upon release will be subsequently dubbed into six Indian languages, which are Hindi language, Telugu language, Malayalam, Kannada, Bhojpuri and Bengali with the same title.

The date set for release worldwide, after several postponements, is 15 August, 2007.
